The Best Apple Pie Recipe?

We got this recipe from one of our readers who claims this is the best apple pie recipe ever :).This recipe has two parts. One teaches you how to make apple pie crust and the other part how to make apple pie filling. Make sure your oven bakes from both sides, otherwise you should turn the pie around after half an hour.

The Best Filling For An Apple Pie Ingredients

  • 2/3 of a cup (160 ml) sugar
  • 1/2 of a cup (60 ml) flour
  • 0.5 tea spoon nutmeg
  • 0.5 tea spoon cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt
  • 8 big apples (2.5kg, 5.5 pounds)
  • 2 table spoons of margarine


  1. Measure the flour. Use a kitchen scale. Set it to zero. Weigh the container you plan to use to weigh food. Weigh and measure your ingredients for a recipe before combining. By using several different bowls, you can have all of your ingredients ready to go when you begin cooking.
  2. Peel the apples. Core the apples. Remove all part which cannot be used or parts which have been damaged. Then cut them into even slices – equal perfect squares. After the apples are cut you should have around 2 kg/4.4pounds of apples.
  3. Prepare a big bowl. Put in all the apples and add sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and  salt. Mix well.

Now it is time for the apple pie crust.

Apple Pie Crust Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups of white flour or approximately 630 ml
  • 2 table spoons sugar which is approximately 40 ml
  • 0.25 tea spoon salt
  • 5 table spoons of oil (or 200 ml)
  • 8 table spoons of cold water


  1. Measure the flour, the salt and the sugar. Mix to be homogeneous.
  2. Add oil and shortening to the bowl. Stir to combine.
  3. Add water and mix. If the dough feels to dry add more water but be careful with the quantity.
  4. Prepare a surface which must be floured. Put the dough on it. Knead it together. Separate in two equal halves.
  5. Put each half on to a plane and wrap them in saran wrap. Let them rest for at least half an hour but no more than a hour.
  6. Put it in pie plate. Remove every extension from the edges.

Now both recipes come together:

  1. Add the filling you have made previously following other recipe and instructions.
  2. Cover the filling with some margarine.
  3. Roll out the second half in the dough and cover the filling. Use the other end of a spoon to put the edges of the two halves together. Cut slits in the top.
  4. Cover the pie plate with aluminum foil if you don’t want it to be brown.
  5. Bake from 40 minutes up to an hour – bake until the crust turns brown.

And your apple pie is ready! A little warning – apple pie is extremely hot inside when you take it out of the oven so be careful. Leave it outside on the balcony or in the freezer for a while so it cools down.
